Why You Should Be Obsessed With Building A Company That Can Survive Without You

Most business owners start a business for freedom, but they end up building their personal prison.

Growing up, my Dad lived in the company.

I’m grateful for his sacrifices, but after years of untreated PTSD from being a Marine in Vietnam and a stressful business, alcohol became his outlet.

My mom recently stopped working twelve to fourteen hours a day, balancing her duties as a CFO and her controlitis of our warehouse operations.

They both built a business that ended up consuming them.

When I took over, I did things a lot differently, but I caught myself making many of the same mistakes early on, trying to do everything inside the company.

When you operate in the business, you’re trapped in the day-to-day and miss the opportunity for sustainable growth over time.

And even if you don’t want growth, your quality of life suffers when all you do is work in the business.

As soon as you financially can, begin to replace yourself in all the core areas of the business.

This is an investment.
