Why Every Major Business Problem Is The CEOs Fault And What They Can Do About It

We were shipping the wrong material to customers all over the world.

My warehouse team recently hit a hurdle; COVID-19 spread through the team like a wildfire. As a result, either my Operations Manager or 33% of the warehouse team was out sick.

The volume of material that needed to be received and shipped remained the same, but with a lot fewer people, chaos ensued.

Our quality plummeted, and the number of customer cases went from once a month to over six.

It doesn’t sound like a high number, but when you ship expensive commercial aircraft parts worldwide, it’s essential we always get our shipping right.

When speaking with my leadership team, they cited COVID and people being out as the issue, which I acknowledged for some time.

Every major business challenge is your fault.

I’m the leader.

Once I didn’t see progress being made, as the leader, I had to help resolve the problem.

Sure, I could blame my team for all the shipping issues, but who leads the whole team? I do. When big problems surface, it’s up to the leader to make sure the problem gets resolved.
