The One Page Strategic Document Every Small Business Needs To Be Successful
Mike Tyson was half right when he said, “everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”
Every leader gets their share of uppercuts. But a business without a plan is no better than a floundering fish out of water, desperate for a lifeline. Most plans are overly complicated and get looked at once a decade. A great plan is reviewed weekly and executed every-single-day.
I call this plan a Company Playbook (I know, brilliant, thank you very much).
The making of a strategic company playbook.
A Company Playbook should be one page; the simpler, the better.
It consists of:
Big Objective: The big objective aligns the entire team to the mission, making it the culture of the company.
Big Objective KPIs: The top five to ten leading indicator metrics hold the company teams accountable to the big objective.
Mission: A one-sentence statement of how a company will bring immense value to its clients and/or team.
Values: These are the non-negotiable values of the company that everyone on the team must embody.
