The One Metric That Evaluates A Successful Leader

Evaluating leaders based on KPIs is effective but not always substantial.

For a leader to effectively drive company results, they must act with and through other people. Leadership is a people to people game.

The people get the credit for great work, not the leader.

To evaluate if a leader is succeeding in their role, ask yourself these questions.

  • Are the members on their team succeeding in their role?
  • Does the leader help their teams grow through coaching, providing resources, and removing obstacles?

If the answer is yes, the leader is succeeding.

Leaders must look for ways to help their teams succeed, giving them full credit along the way.

Leadership is an egoless role — the job is to fuel their teams.

Here are some ways leaders can help their teams succeed.

  • Remove obstacles.
  • Provide consistent coaching — no matter the experience level.
  • Create growth opportunities.
  • Conduct weekly one-on-ones.
  • Hold people accountable for their results.
