The 1 Massive Reason Holding People Accountable Is A Mistake

Build A Thriving Business (Or Career), Not A Prison. Every Sunday morning, you’ll get 1 actionable tip to dramatically improve your performance, profit, and potential without sacrificing what’s most important — TIME.

Don’t treat your team like children.

Like every parent, I’m constantly negotiating to get my oldest son to eat his vegetables (my middle and youngest love them — jackpot!).

During dinner, you’ll hear random accountability bouts:

“Noah, if you eat five pieces of broccoli, you can have a piece of dark chocolate.”

“Noah, if you eat vegetables every day this week, we can go to your restaurant of choice.”

“Sorry, Noah, you can’t have that because you were gagging, complaining, and decided to throw away your vegetables.”

As a parent, it’s my responsibility to instill a set of values and habits in my children so they can grow up to be happy, healthy, and kind adults.

It’s different for employees.

Employees are hired to produce results. Constantly holding them accountable for what they’re paid to achieve is counterproductive as long as they clearly know what’s expected of them.
