It’s Never About Winning Or Losing. It’s About How You Do This Instead.
If you want to win, don’t focus on winning.
Winning is a byproduct of execution (so is losing). It’s the end result. When you place winning above everything else, you become desperate and make stupid decisions.
You think to yourself, “why can’t I win,” “winning isn’t for me,” or “why is that person winning and I’m not?”
Emotions begin to flood your mind, and nothing get’s better.
When you focus all your attention on the outcome, you miss the point of winning and losing.
Every day I woke up and thought, I have to do X so I can achieve Y.
I was hyper-focused on a specific outcome. When the grueling days would get the best of me, I became frustrated and annoyed when progress didn’t seem fast enough. I was like a rabid dog chasing its next victim.
At the time, little did I know, you can’t force a win.
Great athletes don’t walk out of the womb winning a gold medal.
