If you focus on everything, you focus on nothing.

I started my leadership journey drowning myself and my team. Any piece of strategic “genius” that popped into my brain, I made it a priority.

After working 12-hour days, primarily consumed by context switching, I burnt myself out.

So was my team. What mattered the most?

You can’t have a thousand top priorities, or even ten. That’s business ADD.

In his USC Commencement Speech, Elon Musk recommends, “Focus on signal over noise. Don’t waste time on stuff that doesn’t actually make things better.”

He prioritizes engineering, manufacturing, and design, where he spends 80% of his time.

“I don’t spend my time pontificating about high-concept things; I spend my time-solving engineering and manufacturing problems.”
