People want to explore all areas of life.

They want to spend time with their family for dinner, not file some non-essential document labeled as urgent at 6:00 pm. People, likely you, claim you want a work-life balance. You want to live your life while building a career.

But this vision is flawed.

Work and life aren’t two separate things.

Life is life.

Work, your j-o-b, your career trajectory are all a part of your life. You can’t balance work from life because work is a part of your life.

Instead, you have to look at it from a bigger picture.

You have to optimize your life’s potential by balancing many segments of who you are as a human.

Each of us is different. We require focus in varying areas of life.

But work is a part of it. Work is where you make money, explore ideas, discover passions, develop skills, meet friends, and many other things.

It’s a part of who you are.

Balance your work.

Instead of balancing work and life, focus on how you can optimize your work.
