Here Come Simple Ideas To Overcome Conflict
A healthy dose of conflict is necessary to your life.
Conflict doesn’t mean being a giant ass. Nor does it mean hiding behind the distance of social media, blasting rude comments, and laughing at your victims like the Joker. Instead, sometimes getting what you want requires a degree of confrontation.
Here’s how you can be socially flexible to navigate conflict and get what you want.
Know thy context.
Context matters.
Sometimes people are stressed and not good at managing their emotions. Other times, people didn’t eat and are hungry (i.e., hangry). When you understand the context, you can navigate the situation.
You become in control when others are out of control, all by awareness of the context.
The real goal of conflict.
When people are fighting (or arguing), the actual conflict is unstated.
“The fight revolves around the symptom rather than the real inciting incident or reason,” writes Brendon Lemon in The Power Bible. The goal isn’t to solve a problem but rather to dominate another individual into compliance.
You’ll never solve a problem when someone is in conflict mode.
