Don’t Negotiate Today For What You Want Tomorrow

In 2011, my Grandma passed away.

She rolled out of bed and fractured her arm that started a domino effect that led to her demise. A couple of weeks prior I was diagnosed with cancer, melanoma. Being afraid touched the deepest part of my soul–I felt surrounded by death.

Until I realized I needed to start living.

I need to stop chasing the next “big thing.”

Eckhart Tolle calls this psychological time where we’re living in the past or always chasing something in the future.

It’s the classic “Grass Is Greener” syndrome where nothing today is good enough. You’re not content with today because there are so many things you want tomorrow.

How is this a life worth living? Always chasing tomorrow at the expense of right now.

That’s not to say goals aren’t necessary.

Goals are essential to help you focus and attain that future “thing” you seek. But don’t pursue goals at the expense of right now.

Your daily practices will help you achieve the goals you set yourself. They don’t magically appear accomplished. Instead of constantly thinking about your future, focus on this moment.
