Avoid This One Thing When Your Frame Is Attacked In A Conversation
When you control the frame, you control the conversation.
A frame is a concept from the field of neurolinguistic programming, which is “the study of how language interacts with the brain.” It’s the setting, method, and tone of how a piece of information is being presented to your brain.
When emotions enter your frame, you slowly begin to lose control.
Avoid negative emotions to keep control of your frame.
When someone is attacking your frame and you become emotional, the best decision is to separate yourself from the conversation.
Once you feel the bubbles of emotion pulsating through your veins, take a few seconds to:
- Close your eyes.
- Take a few slow deep breaths.
- Reconfirm it’s just a conversation.
- Wiggle your toes and become present.
- Count to ten.
Separating yourself from a trigger allows you to calm down.
When you’re calm, you can reason. You instantly become more logical. But, there are times when you need to walk away.
