I was fat.
I had to be bigger, fatter, and stronger to play football. I gorged myself with a bag of Doritos every night, becoming a plump but strong 250lbs. I was good.
But my body hated me.
I became tired of all the aches and pains.
My knees constantly throbbed.
They hurt getting in a car, sitting through a movie, and going up stairs. A Doctor said I lost all the cartilage in my knees, and the pain was forever — stupid Doctor.
I didn’t want to be in pain anymore, so I had to find my why.

Why should I be healthy?
As a teenager, it was to lose weight so my knee pain would go away and have a better chance of winning Prom King. As a father, I want to have more energy than my three children, never making an excuse not to play. I hate seeing parents too unhealthy to play with their children.
My father instilled this in me until he let alcohol win.
With everything in life, you must find your deep desire to answer why.
Your why must be painful to motivate you to take action. For my mom, it’s to be healthy so…
