A Simple Rule To Improve Your Life: Always Question Your Desires. Here’s How

We slowly become mimes to other people’s reality and their desires.

They’re not uniquely ours. Instead, every desire you possess is likely imitated by a model of that desire.

Think six-pack abs, the assumptions about a given topic, or buying that beautiful big home.

The key is to know which systems of desire you’re living in and routinely question them.

We live in a perpetual system of desire.

According to Luke Burgis, “Every industry, every school, every family has a particular system of desire that makes certain things more or less desirable.”

But it’s our “crippled systems of desire, unable to adapt that have made it so that we gravitate toward the path of least resistance.”

The problem is inertia.

Once we move in the direction of least resistance, it’s difficult to reset and break the continuous momentum and move in the opposite direction.

The first step is to make visible what is invisible.

You can’t change what you don’t “see.”
