7 Questions To Help You Focus On What Matters The Most

The most important thing is keeping the most important thing the most important thing.

I’m never full.

Rarely satisfied.

It’s a great trait to have as an overweight football player, but not one for everything else.

In our daily lives, we’re never satisfied. We jump from one menial task to the next, like we’re at a buffet.

I use questions to give my mind a stiff uppercut and rattle it back to reality.

Questions help me pause, reflect and pivot back in the right direction.

We allow distractions at the expense of our most important priorities.

Gary Keller and Jay Papasan said in their book The One Thing,

“How we phrase the questions we ask ourselves determines the answers that eventually become our life.”

Ask yourself these questions to get clear on what matters the most:

  1. What’s my Return On Time (ROT)? Am I ROTTING away today?
  2. Which of these activities will have the most significant impact today?
  3. “What’s the ONE Thing I can do such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary?”
  4. The big picture question: What’s my one thing?
  5. The small focus question: What’s my one thing right now?
  6. Am I Majoring in Minor things?
  7. What is the single most important strategic objective or idea that, if my entire team rallied fully behind it, would have the biggest positive impact on helping our company thrive?

Until your one thing is done–everything else is a distraction.

Forget the work-life balance myth. Are you ready to start living your best life?
