5 Easy Ways to Cut Cost and Boost Productivity

Waste costs time and money.

When you do things just to do them, nothing ever seems to get done. The important items always get pushed behind the urgent. It’s a constant cycle of chasing your tail, watching the profit and loss statement idle near red where it’s been for years.

To escape the trap of uncontrollable costs and bottom of the barrel productivity, try one of these:

1. Document It

Call it a process, procedure, or get fancy and call it a SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).

Whatever you name it, every vital process in your company deserves a documented repeatable system you execute the same way, every time. When it’s not documented, waste seeps in.

Don’t be sloppy; create a soppy.

2. Automate It

There are many things in your professional life you should automate.

Think of them as low-value, high-need tasks that are redundant, routine, and semi-brainless activities that a machine can perform. A lot of administrative activities fall into this category.

Once automated, you can eliminate human labor redundancies or use the human potential for value-added activities.

3. Design It Out
