3 Integrity Habits All Leaders Must Possess To Set The Best Standards
Leadership is like being a sheep in a forest full of wolves.
Your staff watches everything we do. They observe you in the wild, especially in high-stake situations. They witness your actions that reinforce their behaviors or the stories they tell themselves and others about you and the place they work.
These stories can have a life of their own, which is why leaders must create integrity habits like these:
You must be on time, every time.
Eric Jerome Dickey summarized it best when he said, “early is on time, on time is late and late is unacceptable!”
To lead effectively, you set the standard for your team through your actions.
If you want your team to be respectful of your time, you better respect theirs.
Clarify all action items and deliverables in writing.
Never leave accountability to chance.
After every meeting, one-on-one, and action-oriented conversation, you must clarify the action items in writing.
For my meetings, I list each action item to be completed by our next meeting. There’s never any guessing.
