Leaders often get trapped in the whirlwind of the day-to-day.

“The larger problems tend to find their way to the most competent problem-solvers, depriving them of the time and energy to do more proactive and forward-looking work,” as Anthony Iannarino has said.

As a result here are three areas of leadership ignorance.

1. Leaders are ignorant when it comes to themselves.

They’re not aware of how their behaviors, performance, and habits impact themselves, their team, and the company.

Leadership requires self-awareness. You have to see how your actions translate to your work.

Ask your team which of your behaviors/habits holds them back. Then ask your leader where your performance can improve.

2. Leaders are ignorant when it comes to their teams.

They don’t know what matters to them.

What are their goals, dreams, aspirations?

What are their likes and dislikes?

Are you familiar with their family, living situation, passions, etc.?

Do you know their fears and emotional triggers?
