There are two types of people you must always consider cutting.
The Dreamers
These people are high desire, low competency team members.
Just because they say they want to grow doesn’t mean they can or will. Dreamers may lack critical skills, initiative, or a mix of a thousand other limiting behaviors.
You have to decide if they’re worth investing time and money in.
If you want to dedicate the time, ask yourself, can they be developed into a role player?
- Yes? Keep and develop them.
- No? Cut them.
The Dead Weight
These people are low desire and low competency team members.
